When Haters become Biters

candis.jpg

Actress Candis Cayne of ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money shows CreditCovers founder and CEO Anthony David Adams some love.

After being threatened with litigation by the major credit card companies, which have tried putting the squeeze on CreditCovers since our launch last January, we are pleased to see that they are biting our idea by now offering custom credit cards. Aristotle was right: Imitation is the best form of flattery.

To their credit, companies like Capital One have at last realized that consumers are tired of the same boring look that has characterized credit, debit and ATM cards. Design options have long been in high consumer demand, but the banking industry has been slow to respond. It would prefer to have cardholders remain proxy marketers for its institutions. Each time you whip out your plastic, you in essence become a publicist for your bank.

That is why CreditCovers has led the charge toward customization. We understand the importance of giving our customers options and a price they can afford. With 24 designs available and more to come, CreditCovers is the preeminent purveyor of credit card customization. Despite the majors latching on to the idea, CreditCovers.com remains the foremost destination for cardholders seeking to customize their plastic.

We’re the only company that gives you the tools to change how your cards look at your discretion. Where else will you find intelligent designs by leading artists like Matthew Langille, Todd Francis, Jessica Lansdown and Food One?

Creditcovers are a high-quality, carbon-neutral, perfectly-cut skin that thousands around the world have used to transform a wallet-sized bank billboard into an object of self-expression. They are guaranteed to not damage your cards and are easily removed. Not only do they make great gifts, but are excellent conversation pieces, as well. Nothing can top the expression of a store clerk who reads “Bloodsucking Financial Institution” on the credit card you hand them.

Movin’ weight like Biggie Smalls

raw product.I’ve currently got about $100k (street value) of CreditCovers stacked on my table. It reminds me of those drug busts where they’ve got kilo’s of coke all bundled up with fat stacks of $100’s strewn about. As we speak, we’ve got a New Jack City style team of women breaking up the bricks into more deliverable size and orders are flying out the door.

The quality on Series II is PRIMO. We’re using a higher screen resolution during the printing process, an extra thick UV coat for a damn-I-wish-I-had-that visual pop, a newer vinyl base, and a differant adhesive that won’t leave ANY residue on the cards — so you can easily swap them on and off. The designs are also killer! These are limited editions, so get ‘em before the FED’s confiscate them from us.

Serial Talking

cc_customs_edinboro-tartan.png

Last week, CreditCovers inventor and CEO Anthony David Adams received the Great Scott Award from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. He received the award after speaking to a packed house of business students and others with entrepreneurial ambitions.

Edinboro University is the first major institution to order custom CreditCovers.

On Nov. 1, Adams will take part in panel discussion with other Wisconsin entrepreneurs at Northland College, sponsored by the Wisconsin Innovation Network. The panel discussion will center on using Internet-based business models.

And, if something seems different, the CreditCovers website has undergone some changes aimed to make it easier for you to navigate, with more changes underway.

Keep the CreditCovers revolution alive! Tell your friends, family and co-workers about our Series #2 line. With the holiday season just around the corner, CreditCovers make excellent stocking stuffers or holiday card inserts.

CreditCovers Series #2 Now Available!

cc_s2-013_bloodsuckers.png

The wait is over. CreditCovers Series #2 are now available for pre-order, with 15 new designs by renown artists like Todd Francis, Mathew Langille and Jessica Lansdown. All CreditCovers in the wildly popular Series #1 are still available.

And the pre-orders have begun pouring in. “We’ve received several hundred already,” says Anthony David Adams, CreditCovers inventor and CEO. “People have been waiting a while for these, but they’re finally here.”

CreditCovers are cool skins easily slapped on credit, debit and ATM cards, customizing them with personal flare. If you get bored with one: You can peel it off easily and replace it with a new one.

Even the artists are stoked. Allured by the subversive nature of the credit skins, ELEMENT skateboard designer Todd Francis signed on to the CreditCover revolution. “Commandeering the space on your plastic for your own means is just great,” says Francis. “Being given a blank canvas to spew all sorts of negative crap, how could I resist?”

Francis’s design, from a distance, appears to be a Federal Government logo. But upon closer inspection it reads: Bloodsucking Financial Institution.

Marc by Marc Jacobs designer Mathew Langille read about CreditCovers in New York Times magazine last spring and wanted a piece of the action as well. One, called “Hearts and Bones,” is a play on the Skull and Crossbones, a design Langille laments.

I made it not only to poke fun at all those designers that make Skull and Crossbone designs, but to also joke about how precious money is and how easily credit cards can take that money away,” says Langille, who designed three of the 15 new designs.

Though Series #2 just became available, Francis is already looking ahead to Series #3 and beyond. “I’m looking forward to doing a serialized series of graphics for CreditCovers, releasing a few a year, because these things are fun as hell to work on,” he says.

CreditCovers, LLC was founded in January 2007 by serial entrepreneur Anthony David Adams and Bowen Dwelle, founder and CEO of Admonsters, the world’s leading online ad operations association.

Make Your Passion Your Profession

wisc_trenpreneur.gif

The entrepreneurship message – acting on an idea to create value through a business, a social good or an artistic endeavor – is resonating far and wide on the UW-Madison campus. We’d like your help in promoting another, exciting, campus-wide entrepreneurship event for our students as part of the university’s grant from the Kauffman Foundation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6pm in the Memorial Union (2nd floor Lounge), we will host a Money, Marketing and Mentors panel of successful entrepreneurs designed to energize our UW students. The “conversation” is structured to be informal and to encourage networking and exchange of ideas. Our overall theme remains ” Make Your Passion Your Profession,” and we’ll have another diverse, exciting panel of alumni/local entrepreneurs who will share their experiences about how money, marketing and mentors helped them make their passion their profession!

We’ll also have representatives from entrepreneurship-related student organizations and campus programs, plus, of course, food, soda, and door prizes. This event is free and is open to all UW students.

As with last year’s successful Wiscontrepreneur activities, we need your help in getting the word out – please forward the attached flyer to any students or student organizations you think might be interested, or any faculty or student services staff that might be willing to pass along the information.

More information about the Oct. 2 Money, Marketing and Mentors panel, and other entrepreneurial activities, is available at www.wiscontrepreneur.org/
